On 24 October 2017 academics at the SBL were rewarded for their excellent research output in 2016. This annual event is organised by the Research Office under the leadership of Research Manager, Ms Nthabiseng Motloi.
It was with great excitement that Prof Mari Jansen van Rensburg, SBL Academic Director, announced the SBL Researcher of the Year for 2016. The honour was bestowed on Prof Angelo Nicolaides with a score of 18.8. Other high performers included Prof Renier Steyn and Prof Anton Grobler with scores of 15.67 and 12, respectively.
Other members of the top eight researcher were to Prof Andre van der Poll (10), Prof Breggie van der Poll (6.83), Prof Sanchen Henning (6.5), Prof Roy Ramphal (4) and Prof Stella Vettori (3).
During the ceremony Prof Jansen van Rensburg also recognised researchers who were active in the field of research at the SBL which includes Prof Peet Venter, Prof Francois du Toit, Prof Phillip Serumaga-Zake, Dr Binganidzo Muchara, Prof Cyril Mbatha, Prof PD Rwelamila, Prof Neha Puruthottam and Prof Jan Kruger.
Prof Jansen van Rensburg, said that she was extremely proud of the research output of academics at the school which is growing year on year.
