Teaching excellence award goes to Prof Grobler

Prof Anton Grobler

On 10 October Prof Anton Grobler, professor in the Leadership and Organisational Behaviour academic area of the Unisa  Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL), received one of four Unisa Tuition Excellence awards at the Teaching and Learning festival. The four awards were presented to the SBL, College of Education, College of Law and College of Human Sciences.

Prof Grobler received this prestigious award for the structured research programmes he developed for the MBL research project and the effect thereof on student success and retention. The SBL had three finalists competing for the award and we were widely praised for our submissions. Other submissions from the SBL were made by Prof Peet Venter and team for the curriculum design category following the MBA Strategic Management module and Mr Clifton Singh for the student support category for the PGD Integrated Management module.

The theme of the Teaching and Learning Festival for this year was:  Towards transforming learning and teaching: Transforming pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment which looked at the higher education landscape in South Africa which has been experiencing challenging times with demands for a decolonised university and decolonised education.
