Recognition for research excellence begins here, at home

Our finest and most dedicated researchers and inventors do not set out to win awards, but when recognition comes, they value it. When it comes from their own institution – their academic and research home – they often value that recognition all the more.

The annual Unisa Research & Innovation Awards are the University’s way of saying thank you for a job well done; for sacrifices made; for refusing to be satisfied with mediocrity; for relentlessly seeking to understand the causes of the problem at hand; for total commitment to finding answers and solutions.

The 2023 Unisa R&I Awards, for achievements and accolades earned during 2022, are being held on Friday, 21 April to honour approximately 100 researchers and inventors who have chosen Unisa as their professional home.

For the first time in three years, the awards are being held in-person instead of virtually, which was a necessity while the Covid-19 pandemic was at its height. That we will meet face-to-face adds an additional upbeat note to the proceedings.

I look forward with excitement to meeting and applauding our award-winners at the CSIR International Convention Centre. What a pleasure it is to have an opportunity to be together, celebrating the wonderful work that Unisa’s top researchers and innovators are producing.

See you there!
