Unisa gears up for the 2024 International Teaching and Learning Conference

Unisa is gearing up to host the much anticipated 2024 International Teaching and Learning Conference, set to take place from 6 to 10 May 2024. This global gathering will unfold at the scenic Muckleneuk Campus in Tshwane, Gauteng, South Africa, uniting educators, researchers, and practitioners worldwide. The event aims to explore and chart new frontiers and perspectives in Open Distance and e‑Learning (ODeL), specifically focusing on the dynamic landscape of the Global South and Africa.

The overarching theme of the conference, "Charting new frontiers and new perspectives: Advancing teaching, learning, and student support in Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL)," encapsulates the ever-evolving nature of ODeL in the Global South, with a particular emphasis on the African context. Key focus areas include innovative teaching methodologies, technology in education, curriculum transformation, and effective student support strategies.

Hybrid experience for global engagement 

The conference will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants the flexibility to engage either in person at the enchanting Muckleneuk Campus or online. This approach aims to facilitate accessibility for a global audience, transcending geographical constraints and fostering a truly global dialogue. 

Professor Meahabo Magano, the Chairperson and Executive Director of Tuition Support and Facilitation of Learning at Unisa, says: "This inaugural conference aims to enhance scholarly understanding in disciplines related to andragogy and heutagogy. We invite academics, professionals, and support staff to share and showcase best practices in higher education.
