Staff research profiles

The Department of Economics is fortunate to have a diverse research profile. The Deparment has expertise in fields such as the philosophy of economics, development economics and poverty, public finance, international trade policy, foreign aid, international finance, development finance, monetary economics, banking and financial markets, labour economics, health economics, environmental economics, and numerous topics in micro- and macroeconomics. Macroeconomic Policy Analysis MPA programme

The Department hosts the Macroeconomic Policy Analysis (MPA) research flagship programme, conducting cutting-edge macro-economic policy research necessary to provide timely scientific policy advice to African countries, in general, and to sub-Saharan African countries, in particular. The MPA programme has its own working paper series, and has graduated 12 PhD students since 2017. A detailed overview of the MPA programme is available here.
