Purpose: Of this module is to develop students' basic knowledge and skills of Chinese pronunciation, using common and simple Chinese expressions in everyday life, and writing Chinese characters. Purpose: Of this module is designed for those who complete the level of beginners (MAN1501), have mastered the Pinyin (Chinese Phonetic Alphabet) or have basic Chinese language skills to further develop their Chinese proficiency in terms of linguistic knowledge, linguistic skills, learning strategies and cultural awareness.1

The students at this level should reach the following specific purposes in terms of
listening: understanding basic, familiar and well-pronounced words, as well as simple sentences concerning daily activities;
speaking: repeating, retelling and reciting words and sentences in proper tones, as well as responding to simple greetings, instructions and commands;
reading: recognising the Pinyin, simple characters and words, as well as numbers concerning daily activities;
writing: writing basic characters with correct stroke order, as well as simple phrases and sentences in Pinyin;

He/she will demonstrate extensive knowledge of Chinese cultural, as well as the development of preliminary cross-cultural awareness and international perspectives.
