Dr Rikasha Shamlall received her PhD in Environmental Sciences from Unisa on 16 October 2024 in Durban, marking a significant milestone in her academic and professional journey. Her path has been anything but easy, characterised by personal struggles, financial hardships, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
Shamlall began her academic career in biomedical sciences, focusing on microbiology and psychology. These skills have enhanced her academic performance and prepared her for a career in artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics.
Looking ahead, Shamlall aims to expand her portfolio by developing AI tools that can benefit hospitals and businesses. More importantly, she is committed to giving back to her community, inspiring children to believe in their potential to rise above adversity.
